Diploma in Pre-Medical Studies by Distance Learning

So you want to become a Doctor?

Warnborough College offers an intensive Pre-Medical Diploma with direct entry to several World Health Organisation (WHO) recognised medical universities in the Caribbean. This is an excellent opportunity for any individual in any part of the world to follow a career in medicine. Students do not need to come to the UK to take the course - it can be studied from your home. However, once you have graduated with the Diploma you will need to attend full-time medical school.

The Warnborough College Pre-Medical Diploma is designed by medical practitioners to meet the high standards and requirements demanded for medical school. Students can meet and discuss their options with the Program Director throughout the academic program at Warnborough College, and to facilitate transfer to the medical universities.

After graduation from the Caribbean medical schools, clinical internships are offered at hospitals in the USA and the UK.

What’s involved?

Complete 8 required modules to acquire a solid background for medical studies.

Am I eligible?

Candidates are considered on a case-by-case basis. The basic entry requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent, with good passes in science subjects (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics).

University graduates, transfer students and mature students with or without any science background are also eligible to apply for a place. Additional science-based courses may be required.

Students whose first language is not English must show proof of English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL 650+, or equivalent). Students may begin the program without these scores BUT they will not be allowed to graduate with the Diploma in Pre-Medical Studies until the required score has been obtained.

What about Med School?

Once you successfully complete your pre-medical program, you can choose to study at a WHO-recognised university in the Caribbean. All classes are taught in English. After twenty months of basic science courses, two years of clinical medicine are offered through affiliated hospitals in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

Each university offers reasonable tuition, high quality instruction, good clinical rotations, and a great future for graduates. Their curriculum is consistent with that offered at US medical schools and is designed to meet the licensing requirements in the United States and other countries throughout the world.

Graduates who wish to practise in the United Kingdom must sit for the Professional Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) examination, after which they are allowed to practise with limited registration for 5 years (with full approval by the UK General Medical Council (GMC)). Students who wish to practise in the United States of America will need to undertake similar licensing requirements by sitting for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (MLE).
