RHS General Certificate

The RHS General Examination in Horticulture has been perhaps the most important and widely recognised qualification in the U.K. for people starting a career in horticulture. It has been in existence for the best part of 150 years.
The reputation of this qualification, and that of the RHS, extend far beyond the U.K. In fact it is recognised widely throughout the world, and in particular in many former British colonies where horticulturists still maintain close contacts with the RHS.
The qualification is awarded by the RHS in the United Kingdom where the student is required to sit and pass two 1½ hour written papers. These exams are designed to test the candidate’s basic understanding of scientific principles, and their relationship and application to horticultural skills & principles. The exams are conducted by the RHS, but may be sat in virtually any part of the world.
