| Dublin Zoo | In early May our snow leopard showed all the behaviours associated with a pending birth. Cleverly positioned infra red cameras in her den allowed animal care staff to observe her in a total darkness and noticed nest building behaviour. Of course we knew when she was last mated and that snow leopards have a gestation period of 90 – 100 days but pinpointing the actual day of birth is not an exact science hence the cameras. |
