Student Feedback: Joy Edmonds - Basic Herbs
We are proud to have such an inspirational student as "80 something" Joy, who takes herb courses, the downloading of ebooks, and the inspiring of chefs in her stride! This is what she had to say about her time with ACS...

Was the course a valuable learning experience? Why?
Yes – A number of herbs and their uses were unknown to me. I have learnt to use them mainly for culinary purposes. I have now started my own herb garden as well as one in the Community Garden.

Did the course meet your expectations? Please add comments.
Yes, my knowledge of the value of herbs in their culinary, medicinal, cosmetic, hygiene uses has been greatly enlarged.

Did you like the way the course was structured (presented) ? Please add comments.
Yes, each lesson followed on from the previous one. I loved assignment 6 not the least because of the cooking involved.

Did you receive helpful feedback from your Tutor?
Yes, I could not ask for any better. She answers all my questions immediately and is so very knowledgable.

Did you receive good service from the school administrative staff?
Yes, Each time I rang the office the staff were most helpful.

Are there any parts of the module/unit you feel could be improved? If so, how?
Quite happy as it is. John's "Herb" book which I downloaded from the web was an invaluable source of knowledge and information for the course. Thanks John.

Are there any other comments you would like to make?
As I love cooking, it was a joy to be able to experiment with the herbs in the various sections of the culinary art. I love the assignments and I enjoyed creating the 3 course meal as I have only ever used mixed herbs and vanilla in my cooking. The Lavender Ice-cream has been a great hit. My grandson who has cooked in the Hunter Valley, Canada, France, Cornwall and is now working at Perisher Valley in the Snowy Mountains was so impressed with its taste that he says he is going to use it in some of the desserts he creates.
