This course was written by a team of horticultural experts, nurserymen and gardeners; all with university level training topped off with years of experience growing different indoor plants in varied situations; from greenhouses and shade houses to artificially heated and lit rooms in climates where the cold and dark winters nights would kill most houseplants.

You receive full tutor support throughout the course, with staff on duty 5 days a week to respond to any questions about your studies. Assignments are submitted at te end of each lesson, which are promptly marked and returned (usually within 7 days) containing useful comments to keep your studies on track.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will I learn to fix indoor plants that are not doing well?

Yes - when it is feasible to stop the decline by changing conditions or eliminating the cause of a problem. If the plant has deteriorated too far, you will be better equipped to make a call on whether to dispose of it or attempt to resurrect it.

How flexible is the Course?

It is self paced - no set finish date, so work slow or fast as you wish. You can focus more attention on learning about the plants that you have a greater interest in, and always have expert tutors who you can refer questions to when you submit assignments, for further information if you need it.

How practical is the course?

It's much more than just course notes & answering questions (which some other schools are). Meet some of our academics

John Mason (Horticulturist)Horticulturist, Nurseryman, Landscaper, Garden Writer, Parks Manager and Consultant. Over 45 years experience; working in Australia and the UK. He is one of the most widely published garden writers in the world; author of more than 100 books and editor for 4 different gardening magazines. John has been recognised by his peers being made a fellow of the Institute of Horticulture in the UK, as well as by the Australian Institute of Horticulture.
Diana Cole (Horticulturist)Horticulturist, Permaculturist, Landscaper, Environmentalist. Holds a Diploma in Horticulture, degree in geography, permaculture certificate and various other qualifications. Between 1985 and 94, Diana was a task leader with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. Since 2001 she has been chairperson of the Friends of Mellor Park (with Stockport MDC). From 2005 she has worked exclusively in horticulture as proprietor of her own garden design and consultancy business in and around Derbyshire; and at the same time as part time manager of a small garden centre. Diana has been an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable tutor with ACS since 2008.
