Study as a hobby

Studying something that interests you - as a hobby
Most of us study today to gain the job we want, for promotion, to maintain our professional standing, to update our knowledge, for CPD (continuing professional development) purposes and so on, but what is wrong with studying for fun? To learn something new? Can studying be a hobby?

I think it can. Learning new things can be a way to increase our interest and understanding of the world around us. It doesn’t always have to be to get a new job or promotion, it can simply be because we want to learn.

What would you like to learn about?
There are so many different courses and topic to study about, there is bound to be something that interests you. If you are studying for interest, why not pick a subject you might never have chosen before – Wildlife Management,Creative Writing, Introduction to Psychology, Carpentry, Horticultural Therapy, Botany, Physics, Writing a Website,Graphic Design, Photoshop. Think about what you are interested in. What have you always want to know?

Love Studying
Try thinking of studying, not as a must, should or have to, but as a want to and love to.  Do you ever hear anything saying that their hobby is studying? No, probably not. But if you start asking people, you would be surprised how many people do actually enjoy studying.

Time to Study
Do you have the time to study? Can you fit an hour or two of studying into your week or do you have more time available? We all go through different times in our lives, when we are very busy or have less time available, but if you really want to study, you may find you have the time to fit it in when you try.

An hour a week is only the same as the time you might spend watching a TV programme or having a long soak in the bath. Why not try learning something new instead?
If you have come to the end of this and are thinking, yes, I would like to study for fun or interest, then why not have a look at our courses.

Or, why not build your own course?
If you are not sure what might interest you, why not contact us? Our tutors are more than happy to help with advice and suggestions.

Remember – Learning is fun! Learning is interesting!

In the words of Dr Seuss - “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
